The role you’ll contribute:
Under the supervision and direction of the Director of Surgery in the Florida Hospital North Pinellas Surgery Service, and in accordance with the rules and regulation of the Board of Nursing in the State of Florida governing the practice of Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioners, the ARNP will be responsible for the care of patient in this service line. The ARNP will coordinate and perform preoperative assessments and prepare all clinical documentation, coordinate treatment for patients, act as a first assistant in the operating room when necessary, assist in the management of postoperative care, perform discharge planning coordination, round on all surgical patients, perform new consults, independently perform minor bedside procedures, and provide support for community outreach programs.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Preoperative: •The ARNP will perform initial interview and assessment of patient. •Assist in preoperative evaluation and education. •The ARNP will complete all clinical documentation for surgical patients, to include new consult notes, discharge notes, daily progress notes, and preoperative notes. •Communicates/coordinates with Pre-Admission Testing area, surgical scheduling and nursing units. •Communicates any abnormal findings to Chief of Anesthesia, Attending Surgeons for inpatients and outpatients. •Order necessary testing or treatment. •Implement treatment plans. •Perform patient education. •Communicate with all members of surgery, to include anesthesia providers and referring surgeons. •Prescribes medications as necessary. Intraoperative: •Act as a first assist in the operating room when necessary. Postoperative Hospitalization and Discharge: •Assists with postoperative management of patients. Under the direction of the Attending Surgeon, executes a wide range of management plans for patients. •Discusses the care of each patient with the Attending Surgeon, and other consult service(s) involved with the care of the patient. •Attends daily rounds and rounds independently on all surgical patients as needed. •Works collaboratively with Case Management and prepares patients for discharge, including patient and family discharge teaching, continuing care and rehabilitation arrangement in conjunction with nursing, writing discharge prescriptions, and confirming primary care or referring physician follow-up. •Arranges for admission to the floor (H&P, orders). •Identifies patients for patient optimization, empowering patients in healthcare and improving healthcare delivery. Educational and Community Outreach •Coordinates, organizes and participates independently in Operation Sunshine skin cancer screening program and early Lung Cancer Screening program. •Organize and facilitate tumor board meetings
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
•Prior experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Advanced Cardiac LIfe Support Cert
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert
• Advanced RN Practitioner
