Position Summary: The Creative Arts Therapist is responsible for utilizing creative arts therapy techniques to facilitate understanding and practice of coping skills; foster and enhance communication, self-esteem, creativity, socialization and physical movement of assigned patients. The incumbent provides creative arts therapy services, and psychoeducation to patients in the in-patient setting. This position works under limited supervision. Internal contacts include all levels of staff and management. External contacts include patients and families/caregivers, physicians, and community agencies.
Minimum Requirements: One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness preferred. Experience with geriatrics and disabled adults preferred
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Masters Degree in Art Therapy, Dance/Movement Therapy, or Drama Therapy, or a bachelors degree in music therapy with applicable board certification Registration and/or Board-Certification preferred (MT-BC, ATR-BC, RDT, BC-DMT) Licensure preferred (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT) or Associate Level Licensure Must obtain Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor registration upon hire if not in possession of any other listed license BLS certification required
