This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Veterans Justice Outreach (VJO) Coordinator, located at the Santa Rosa CBOC is assigned to provide services to Veterans involved in the criminal justice system, as outlined in the Veterans Justice Initiative. The position is responsible for VJO activities in the following counties: Sonoma and to provide coverage in Mendocino, Ukiah, and Homboldt as needed. The goal of the program is to provide support and treatment services to justice-involved Veterans so that the Veterans either are diverted from incarceration or are assisted upon release to avoid becoming homeless or re-incarcerated. The VJO Coordinator has experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. Two years of specialized social work practice working with individuals involved in the criminal justice system is preferred. The incumbent must be licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level and is able to expand clinical knowledge in the profession, provide consultation and guidance to colleagues, role model effective social work practice skills, teach or provide orientation to less experienced social workers, develop innovations in practice interventions, and provide clinical supervision for social work licensure or certifications. The VJO Social Work Coordinator practices social work in a community setting where he/she facilitates integration back into mainstream society for individuals that are involved with the local criminal justice system. He/She is assigned administrative responsibility for clinical program development and is accountable for clinical program effectiveness and modification of service patterns. The incumbent is assigned to work with special patient populations with highly complex medical and mental health diagnoses.
