Health Program Specialist II – Council on Criminal Justice and Behavioral Health $74,556 - $93,324 annual salary range On behalf of the Council on Criminal Justice and Behavioral Health (CCJBH), California Correctional Health Care Services is seeking an independent, highly skilled, subject matter expert on research and policy analysis to inform strategic planning and policy recommendations. Established in 2001, CCJBH is a collaborative council chaired by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s secretary and appointed experts from both the criminal justice and behavioral health fields. Together, they promote and support data-driven decision-making on both policy and program issues to reduce the number of incarcerated men and women with mental health and substance use disorders. In this key position, you will: - Provide leadership and technical expertise to identify data-driven best practices and policy approaches to address the needs of individuals with behavioral health challenges
- Conduct ongoing analysis and evaluation of a broad range of policies and community programs
- Present recommendations at trainings, conferences, and at the CCJBH meetings
- Develop fact sheets, issue papers, and reports on policy recommendations
- Identify and provide tools and other data-driven research to inform best practices and policy approaches, e.g. web-based dashboards
- Coordinate and plan CCJBH research activities in consultation with the executives, research professionals, and other key state and local stakeholders
- Prepare legislative updates and analyses of legislative proposals with support from CCJBH analysts
To thrive in this role, you must have: - Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Hospital Administration, Comprehensive Health Planning, Public Administration, or closely related field (one year of additional specialized qualifying experience may be substituted for Master’s degree)
- Four years of progressively responsible experience in health program administration (at least two of which must have included independent responsibility for a significant program; with experience in program planning and/or evaluation and making recommendations to management). A Doctoral degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Health Planning, Public Administration, or a closely related health professional field may be substituted for one year of general experience
