SummitRidge Hospital provides quality behavioral health and addiction treatment services in Lawrenceville, GA, approximately 30 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta. Our dedicated team of professionals provide caring and professional inpatient, outpatient and support services to adults and adolescents suffering from psychiatric or addictive disorders. Additionally, the Geriatric unit provides acute care for seniors in psychiatric crisis. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Activity Therapist (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist preferred). Provides recreational or leisure assessments as needed. Plans and provides Activity Therapy services for individual and/or groups which benefit their physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual well being. Participates with the multidisciplinary treatment teams to integrate these services and improve patient functioning.
Plans and leads art and recreation therapy groups.
Monitors physical activity level assigned to patients and maintains the safest environment possible during activity groups
Leads and co-leads additional groups as needed on assigned units as requested.
Completes required documentation on patients which includes assessments and progress notes.
Organizes special areas for Activity Therapy services to maintain games, supplies, videos and educational information.
Supervises and coaches Activity Therapy staff
Provides regular adjunctive therapy in accordance with presenting needs and medical orders.
Documents all patient contacts and therapeutic activities in the record in a timely manner.
Provides training and family education as needed.
Leads activity therapy and/or community meetings. Team Involvement:
Takes responsibility for effectively functioning of adjunctive therapy systems within the Hospital and acts in a proactive manner to resolve conflicts.
12. Works to meet the changing needs of clients, doctors, and managed care providers by creatively developing new programming.
