Clinical Manager (full-time)
MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society
With an unrivaled record of success, the Maryland Physician Health Program and the Maryland Professional Rehabilitation Program have been helping physicians remain or return to practice so they can continue to care for their patients throughout our communities. As one of the oldest physician health programs in the nation, our clinical team directs, manages and implements rehabilitation services for the physicians we care for and serve. We believe that for every 1 physician we help, we impact at least 1000 of their patients. We are looking for a full-time clinician who is highly motivated, deeply passionate and has the ability to effectively problem-solve. This is a niche position which is part of a unique national and international community that combines the best of both administrative and management elements with the clinical work of employee assistance programs (EAPs). We work with physicians for a multitude of referral reasons including substance use, behavioral issues, psychiatric issues, cognitive concerns, and other stressors including burnout. Our programs in Maryland are recognized as models throughout the nation and we are committed in not only helping the physicians we serve remain in practice but also in fostering, encouraging and cultivating the greatest possibility for their overall health and well-being. A typical day may include: -Meeting with several physician clients as part of the clinical management process -Interacting with various licensing boards regarding the referred cases we oversee -Communicating with leadership at various hospitals/institutions throughout the state in consulting and providing guidance on cases -Collaborating with treating providers in the community or residential treatment programs with whom we work regarding care of our physician clients -Providing a Grand Rounds presentation at a hospital/institution on issues related to physician impairment, disruptive behavior or burnout -Meeting with our Physician Health Committee for input and feedback in management of cases These are just some examples of the stimulating work in which we engage and the challenging opportunities presented to us each and every day. We are a close-knit, supportive clinical team that has the luxury of spending a great deal of time and resources in thoroughly and thoughtfully discussing each and every case so that we can offer the highest quality of care and services. We believe we are extremely fortunate in having the honor and privilege in serving the physicians we do with highly rewarding and fulfilling work of contributing to so many successful outcomes. Our philosophy is that our greatest asset and value comes from the qualities, skills and abilities of the clinicians who make up our team. We thus believe in hiring a clinician not solely based on his/her experience but, rather, someone who has the character we are committed to promoting and cultivating. An ideal candidate would be described as strategic thinker who demonstrates good judgment, possesses inherent curiosity, values the team process, exhibits a commitment to excellence and desires to continually grow as a clinician.
