The Social Work Manager is responsible for upholding excellence in the delivery of social work in our Doernbecher Children’s Hospital inpatient and outpatient areas and Mother/Baby unit for OHSU Healthcare. This position reports centrally to the Division Director of Care Management Department and includes 24-hour operational coverage. S/he is accountable for the administrative, leadership and strategic functions of the social work team in those areas. The Social Work Manager partners with interdisciplinary leadership and care teams to ensure the delivery of safe and quality patient care in compliance with clinical policies/procedures and regulatory requirements. The Social Work Manager leads others to create a trauma-informed environment that supports a safe, knowledgeable, productive, and engaged staff.
Duties of Position:
Partners with Division Director, social work manager for adult and care transition programs, as well as the Nurse Managers of Case Management and Utilization Management as well as other managers in the Care Management department.
Demonstrates leadership practices which influence others so that the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of patient care services and Hospital are achieved.
Ensures the staffing needs of the department are met by projecting needs, interviewing and hiring employees to fill vacant positions and resolving staffing issues to ensure the department’s workload is handled effectively. Reviews and evaluates outcomes specific to staffing plan.
Qualifications: (include required qualifications and preferred)
Oregon State Board of Clinical Social Work License. (LCSW)
Masters of Social Work degree
2 years management experience, 3 years acute care hospital experience, experience with people who are dealing with serious illness
