The Receptionist is responsible for documenting the time of arrival for all patients via e-mail and updating the Emtala log.Â Greeting and assisting all visitors, answering the switchboard, utilizing the paging system to announce codes. Checking in vendors and documenting incoming deliveries.Â Providing clerical support as needed for other departments.Â In addition, the Receptionist assists with various clerical duties and projects as assigned. Responsible for patient discharge times via e-mail and discharging patient from MS4.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS ARE CATEGORIZED UNDER THE TJC STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE.
Begin registration process upon patient arrival, send email and update Emtala log.
Upon patient discharge, send email, update bed-board and discharge patient from MS4.
Maintain sign in log for outpatient services
Follow the facility guest relations program when greeting and assisting all visitors. Document time of visitor arrivals and ensure all visitors sign the visitor log and obtain a visitor pass. Ensure all visitor belongings are placed in storage lockers and that each visitor is wanded before visitation.
Answer and disseminate all incoming calls on the switchboard in a professional and courteous manner. Utilize the paging system to announce codes and fire alarms as required.
Create charts and folders for admissions; outpatient services; HR and other areas as assigned.
Ensure an adequate supply of pre-stuffed folders and charts are available by the end of each shift.
Process all outgoing and incoming correspondence.
Provide assistance to patient/families by processing property dropped off and providing postage if requested.
Provide meal tickets for employees, maintain dietary ledger/cash.
Accept HR and Clinical Services paperwork and advise each are in a timely manner.
Will be cross trained to cover HUCâ€™s on an emergency basis.
Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel and standard policies and procedures.
Attend all mandatory facility in services and staff development activities as scheduled.
Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance and punctuality.
Support facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives.
Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.
